Wednesday December 1st, 2010

Uwtl but technically it's Saturday night for me (crazy weird work schedule). Nothing much to say so I won't waste your time but things are solid.

Now for bed.

November 9th, 2010

UWTL but hey, for me it's kinda friday night. Playing with Muppets all day friday through tuesday, thus wednesday thursday becomes the weekend.

Now for some Conan and sleep. First ep I get to watch seeing as how DirecTV pulls the old shifty shaft by putting up the east coast TBS feed. Last night ended with me going to bed excited to pass out to some Conando after wearing my Late Night shirt all day, only to be dissapointed when there were indeed only 5 minutes remaining of said redhead and a whole lotta George Lopez starting up.

I DVR'd the thing this time. Let us hope there will be no stopping me this time.

October 30th, 2010

UWTL yet again on a Saturday night. First of all it is Saturday, secondly it is Halloweekend so it was bound to happen.

Don't know about you, but I found myself waiting til the umpteenth hour, literally, to get a costume together. I'd thought about it for weeks but just never put any time in. By the time I started making moves to get a few simple items to assemble a rockin costume, either it was too late, things weren't in stock or they were sold out. I ended up goin as a broke ass Pau Gasol, wearing my faded jersey shirt which I wear quite often on non costume days, as well as my buddy's replica Laker shorts. Sports Authority had seemingly every player except Pau, jersey wise, thus my accuracy wasn't quite up to snuff.

Also I think I found my costume for next year. I almost went for a much more awesome and fairly simple nostalgia pick, that of Sloth from THE GOONIES. Very easy costume consisting of jeans, a blue superman shirt, red suspenders, nikes and a bandana and pirate hat. There was certainly not enough time for prosthetic work in the facial deformities department but even with that, Superman shirts were sold out at every Hot Topic and Comic Book store in town (don't worry, I didn't spend my day running around to all of them, I just called a few). Next year if you happen to see me on Halloween, you can expect a lot of "Hey you guys!!!" that's for sure.

Disclaimer: this is a picture of the Sloth action figure, pre shirt rip to reveal Superman shirt beneath. I know my Goonies.

Saturday October 23rd, 2010

My UWTL thoughts are that although I can't say it's been keeping me up cause I have yet to try and go to sleep but PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2 was pretty pretty pretty good. Definitely recommend checking it out, prob better than the first. That is all.

Sunday October 17th 2010

UWTL on a sunday night that consisted of lots of script reading, and no TV. Not ideal.

Got a job that starts in a few weeks. Meet some of my future Co-workers (but then again, i'd like to think you already have). Pretty excited about it.

October 11th, 2010

Oh man, uwtl just barely and wanted to share with you by far the video of the day on the interwebs. But alas, the "big wigs" at FOX have removed it. BEST OPENING EVER!

It was THE SIMPSONS opening sequence from Sunday night's show as conceived and directed by street artist Banksy of EXIT THROUGH THE GIFT SHOP fame. Here's the LINK in case it ever pops back up. In the meantime here's a taste of EXIT which I never got around to seeing but will very soon especially after this brilliant and ballsy Simpsons tangent.

Saturday September 18th, 2010

Yom Kippur is gone and past. I fasted and save for a little water after dinner last night did the whole real deal (save for the 22-23 hours part).

Didn't quite make it back to Temple today, but that's alright as I put in my time last night. What I did do is see a movie, which is becoming a bit of a Yom Kippur tradition. Although my grandmother doesn't approve, I'll prob still keep doing it. After all, sometimes I think I believe in Cinema more than I do God. For the former the proof is in the pudding, whereas with the latter, well, it's based more on a leap of faith.

The movie I saw today was pretty phenomenal: NEVER LET ME GO. Not exactly a crowdpleaser but beautiful film nonetheless. Can't imagine a more appropriate movie on Yom Kippur than one that touches on death, dying and mortality and paints a picture of just how important the people we love are on our brief time on earth. Despite the depressing subject matter, the fact that these particular characters have even less time than we tend to get, helps put things in perspective and makes it a bit easier to stomach. If you're interested in seeing a well acted, beautifully shot and altogether worthwhile flick, I highly recommend you check it out.

Friday September 17th, 2010

Hello night owls,

crazy to think this is the first edition of UWTL in almost 2 months. Yes I have probably been uwtl a handful of times since our last rendezvous but alas I have been lazy.

Tonight, being Yom Kippur, I am going on 5+ hours without food, only 17-18 hours to go (yes I know that doesn't quite add up to 24, but I'm super super reform or as most other people call it Agnostic, so deal with it conservs!).

Anywho so tomorrow, there will be no food til supper, that is what's up. I'm hoping to be super lucid and able to focus and get some shiz done, but alas that may not be in the cards. If the afternoon arrives and more Temple seems as appealing as it does right now (which is not very), then maybe i'll go check out THE TOWN (Affleck yo!). Lot's o great movies starting to pop into theaters, gotta try and keep up. Saw EASY A tonight, the teen comedy starring the babe-aliscious Emma Stone. Went with the sis and the little cuz. A good time was had by all. Not quite MEAN GIRLS level girly teeny bopper brilliance, but alas not all such highschool comedies have the benefit of Tina Fey in front of and behind the camera.

That's it for tonight. If this post was just a return to meandering, aimless form, then get stoked cause I got a few more blogs launching soon. Both are significantly more focused. One is a photo blog with a slightly sick sense of humor (sorry ladies!) while the other will be an in depth look at where all great and awful TV begins, the Pilot phase. Hopefully both will be something slightly more than massive wastes of times. Who knows? Only times will tell.

Saturday July 31st-Sunday August 1st, 2010

Uwtl two nights in a row, neglected to blog last night so consider this a 2 for 1 special.

Last night the culprit was a little movie called HELLRAISER. It was on one o dose premium movie channels and I began watching out of curiosity and just couldn't stop. It was good or at the very least after midnight good. I even tivo'd the sequel after. I understand not quite as good but also not terrible.

Tonight the culprit was being out kinda late, then returning home with a need to watch the newest Ep. of MAD MEN. It's one of those shows that if you wait too long to watch, it might get ruined for you cause of it's buzzworthy-ness. I enjoyed it while eating a delicious sandwich, now i'm ready for bed.

Tuesday, July 27, 2010

Monday July 26th, 2010

UWTL yet again. This could have been avoided but alas it was not.

The final reason for my tardiness to bed was internet, proceeded by food, proceeded by this band, proceeded by some comedy.

All in all a stimulating night.

Saturday July 24th, 2010

Saw a Carl Reiner double feature of THE JERK and DEAD MEN DON'T WEAR PLAID at The Egyptin, with the man, the myth, the legend there in person which was very very cool. At I believe 88 years old, the man is still as sharp and brilliant and funny as ever and despite the idiots in the crowd providing the question portion of the good ole Q & A, he knocked it out of the park.

The movies themselves don't quite stand up to each other as THE JERK holds up as a true classic whereas DEAD MEN is a bit hit or miss.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkVzspuCkxg

So tired right now, much more could be said i'm sure but i'm just gonna end it here.

Friday July 23rd, 2010

Guess being UWTL is becoming a friday thing.

Whereas last week was a result of seeing an excellent and very long movie, this evening's uwtl-ness can be attributed to seeing one of my all time favorite bands in my all time favorite venues. That being RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE at The Hollywood Palladium.

The show was a benefit to fight Arizona's proposition 1070, and though it was unfortunate that the concert only occurred because of the injustices being committed in that state, I must say I enjoyed every minute of it.

There was a solid opener followed by the "co-headlining" Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band, which I must say was very underwhelming (Turn it around, Bright Eyes). Then after what seemed like an eternal wait, RAGE took the stage and the place absolutely went nuts. Speaking of propositions, they should make one in the state of California that makes it illegal for such intense and awe-inspiring Rock to be played live in such modest venues as The Palladium. From the get go til the very last song the energy in the room was electric. I can't imagine how I would have felt if I hadn't seen RAGE at Rock The Bells three years prior, considering that I don't know how much more fun and sheer joy could have been experienced tonight.

Every since the band's last proper LA show at The Grand Olympic Auditorium 10 years ago when I was in 8th grade, I've been praying for the opportunity to see them live up close in LA. It was definitely everything and more than I hoped it would be.

Friday July 16th, 2010

INCEPTION.

Still trying to come to terms with this movie.

It was pretty great, and I imagine my dreams tonight could be very crazy.

Also, can't wait to be rid of my current IMAX headache.

Friday July 9th, 2010

Looooong day. Early AM workout. IHOP breakfast/ Neil Diamond sighting. Studio baloon blow up sesh. Needle. Teeth Cleaning (no mouth cancer for me). Pixar app. Art Show. Crappy Sushi. CROWDED bday party. Vomit viewing. Canter's mini black and white cookies. More crowded bar. Pork Belly sliders. Car ride. Blogging. Sleep.

Goodnight.

Sunday July 4th, 2010

Happy Birthday America.

Had a great and chill Independence day with plenty of brews and burgers.

Watched SO I MARRIED AN AXE MURDERER for the first time in a while, was def one of my faves back in the day. It doesn't hold up amazingly but it's still a good one with enough wit and atmosphere to make it worth while. And the early nineties time capsule soundtrack is pretty enjoyable too.

All in all very successful 4thm excited for a hopefully pretty chill 5th. I love weekend holidays. So good.

Sunday, July 4, 2010

Saturday July 3rd, 2010

Ridiculous that I haven't blogged in over two weeks. I have definitely been uwtl and wte less often since returning to LA but still no excuse for a total writing breakdown. Hoping that the more I get settled in LA the more frequent my writing will become. So far it's been a serious lull in the productivity department.

Big day manana with the 4th and all, looking forward to some serious eating, drinking, swimming and whatever else-ing.

Holiday. Celebrate...

Wednesday June 16th, 2010

Uwtl yet again. Getting over a bit of a bug and planning an epic walk of epic epicness manana. Gonna venture from Brooklyn all the way to the Cloisters in super duper Upper Manhattan. We shall see if I can make the full 13-14 miles happen.

Just watch the pilot of BREAKING BAD, right after reading the script. I liked it quite a bit but I have to say I liked the script better than the actual ep. In general things always change from scripr to screen but I didnt really mind the changes themselves. The look and feel of the show wasn't quite what I had envisioned on the page. Part of that prob had to do with the fact that the draft I read took place in Ontario, CA whereas the actual show ended up being set in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

I have the feeling it's a show that will look better as it goes and am pretty excited to dive deeper into it.

Monday, June 14, 2010

Monday June 14th, 2010

Uwtl yet again. Just saw some solid comedy at the UCBTNY, my last Whiplash for awhile.

Hoping that the quality of comedy in LA won't drop off too heavy. There are def a ton of NY performers who I will miss seeing on the regular. But then again, there are lots of awesome comics out in LA as well. If there is good stuff to be seen I will be sure to find it.

Big full day tomorrow. Lots of writing and packing to do as well as Bball to watch and people to see.

Sunday, June 13, 2010

Sunday June 13th, 2010

Another big missed opportunity by the Lakers, now shite is getting real. I'm not stressing too much though, I believe there will be a game 7. Wish it didn't have to come down to this but it is what it is.

I won't lose any sleep over how things have gone down, if we get our stuff together and take care of biznass at home I will be real happy, but can't too down if it doesn't go our way. There are certainly bigger things in life.

Saturday, June 12, 2010

Saturday June 12th, 2010

Uwtl late again after a nice mellow saturday. Got some USA England action in, then a free concert in prospect park, followed by a drink and an egg sandwich. Cannot complain.

Nervous and excited for the Lakers game 5 tomorrow, doesn't get much better.

Sleepy time now, big sunday to take on.

Friday, June 11, 2010

Friday June 11th, 2010

So tired right now. Need to pound this out and gets to bed.

Pretty fun and amusing night tonight. Went to the Yankee game which was a lot more fun than I expected it to be. First of all they were playing the dismal Houston Astros and secondly I don't give a s*@$ about the Yankees. It was a pretty tight game that went down to the very last out, allowing for the incomparable Mariano Rivera to aim for the save in the 9th. He struck out the side and all was good.

As me and my buddy headed for the guaranteed crowded subway, we arrived before most everyone else. But as the D train took forever to come, more and more people started to smush onto the platform.

Surprisingly enough, as the D train arrived we got on without much incident and had a fairly comfortable spot by the door. It could have been a hell of a lot more jammed in there.

All was fairly good until 125th street when a real nut squeezed onto the train.

He started spouting off some religious nonsense " I am Jesus, Mohamed. I am Jesus, Mohamed. You're all gonna burn in hell" bla bla, bla bla bla bla. This guy definitely appeared a bit misinformed and all kinds of disturbed.

Usually, a smart, sober person would ignore this kind of ranting and raving. Not on this car. Some idiot started egging the looney on, telling him to shut up and threatening to punch his lights out. Shit very well may have gone down is what I'm saying. And wouldn't you know, it had to happen on the longest stretch without a stop in the entire city of NY, 125th st. to 59th st. As I began to seriously root for the religious nut over the idiot who would engage his madness, a crazy thing happenned. An ass load of people exited the subway at 59th and all the sudden shit calmed down between these two idiots.

The crazy religious guy started praising the asshole for being a "bad ass mutha f$#@* like me" and so began a love affair that would last from 59th st. in Manhattan to Atlantic ave. in Brooklyn and who knows how much longer. During this stretch, these two men who I feared may kill each other, bonded for serious. The bum religous guy was doing most of the talking but he was chatting his new idiot pal non stop by complimenting him on his tattoos, talking about racial equality, teaching him about the fine art of Karate and last but certainly not least, displaying his best STREET FIGHTER moves.

As me and my bud transfered at Atlantic Ave., we had no idea of knowing how this new underground friendship would continue or end. Who knows, maybe it came full circle and ended in a violent shouting match.

But either way, the part I witnessed was one of the most fascinating and fully arced stories of human connection to ever grace the NY subway system.

Monday June 7th, 2010

Uwtl yet again. Just engaged in a bit of a comedy marathon by taking in two awesome shows at UCBNY.

Started off w/ an hour of new stuff from the incomparable Mike Birbiglia who was as good as i've seen him in quite some time.

Then Whiplash, a late Monday night weekly comedy show that I discovered way too late in my NY run.

The lineup as listed was unbelievable with some of the best in NY comedy: Eugene Mirman, John Mulaney and Anthony Jeselnek. The two former def amongst my personal favorites while the latter young master of the kilker one liner is quickly becoming one of my faves as well.

Also enjoyable throughtout the show was the presence in the audience of a certain young comedian I've come to know a little bit over the last few months, who gained much attention from acting quite the fool throughout many of the acts. He seemed like he was truly enjoying himself but it was still ridic.

Then late in the already late show, a man with a thick bushy beard started lurking backstage, occasionally poking his head out. The large in width and now even larger in notoriety, Zach Galifianikis, proved to be the unannounced surprise headliner/ late replacement for a no show on the bill.

A little blurry I know, but you know it's him.

The man (a personal favorite of mine ong before The Hangover) came out to massive applause and then proceeded to do what most hugely famous comics are able to do once they've hit the big time: make the audience laugh at every single thing that comes out of their mouth.

For the next 15-20 minutes very few written jokes were told as the great bearded one went off script and jumped into audience interaction, asking a number of unwitting spectators a little about themselves.

Often this kind of plan B would be just plain terrible, but with Mr. G, a ridiculously smart and gifted improviser, much gold was mined from this diversion.

After all, you can't blame the guy for lack of sharpness or fresh new material as he's def been quite busy lately. I can only hope that he sticks with standup despite his newfound success in movies and that I'll see him at the top of his game one of these days.

Overall, a great night after a prettty good day in NYC. UCB was a huge part of it and I can only hope that UCBLA will fill that gap quite nicely as well.

Tuesday June 1st, 2010

Uwtl. Tried to get some writing done the last few hours but kinda failed miserably.

Besides for that the evening was pretty awesome. Had my first experience at THE Radio City Music Hall where I was funtertained by the musicomedy stylings of sir Reggie Watts and the just straight up comedy stylings of Mr. Conan O' Brien.

Mr. Watts, a personal favorite of mine, opened up the show and absolutely killed it during his short set.

Conan's 2 hour extravaganza was also quite good. Def had it's ups and downs but overall, absolutely worth the price of admission. His opening monologue (if you can call it that) got stronger as it went. The biggest guests of the night were Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart in a 3 way dance off that spiraled into a duel to the death. The latter came out from down the aisle in a huge surprise wearing a ridiculous red wrestling or bullfighter outfit. I couldn't really tell.

Towards the end some Coco favs, best of which was the WALKER TEXAS RANGER pulley or whatever they renamed it, in which a bevy of awesome comic actors came out to trigger the onset of absolutely ridiculous Chuck Norris clips.

Great night. Maybe I continue to be my own worst enemy and didn't get too much done, but great nonetheless.

Monday, May 31, 2010

Monday May 31st, 2010

Uwtl yet again.

Made the trek into the city to check out my favorite comedy show for the first time in weeks. Will definitely miss the ease in which one can take a train 25 minutes to a free top notch comedy show.

Hopefully I will drive to said type of shows whence I move (if they have those type of shows in LA).

Was a solid memorial day. More importantly in my life it was my Mom's bday. Sorry I couldn't be around to spend it with her, but hopefully next year.

Went to the Bronx Zoo today. Animals are pretty cool.

The zoo was great, really lived up to it's reputation.

But I have to say, they should really do a better job of keeping the wildlife under control.

PEACOCK ON THE LOOSE!

Sunday, May 30, 2010

Sunday May 30th, 2010

Uwtl yet again. Happy memorial day by the way.

I was outside a shit ton today. Took a boat ride in the east river in the day's earlier portion. Then chillaxed at a BBQ for most of the afternoon/ evening.

Eating happened. Quite a bit in fact but nothin too crazy.

Ended the night with a crazy Cronenberg move THE DEAD ZONE.

This was my day. Now time to reboot for tomorrow. Might be hitting the Bronx zoo.

Saturday May 29th, 2010

Uwtl for very little reason.

Watching the recording of the Laker game even though I already know the result.

Time for bed!!!

Wednesday, May 26th 2010

Uwtl for the first time this week! Hung out a bit and thus here I am, up past two in the morning for the first time in awhile weekday-wise.

It was a real scorcher in NYC today and continues to be quite warm.

Hoping for a bit of a cool down but could do without rain. Excited for the impending long weekend.

This post was a little meh.

Saturday May 22nd, 2010

And so the LOST weekend continues.

Good times at UCBNY this evening, with a LOST themed comedy show that shifted back and forth btwn the sublime and the ridiculous. It was geekery at it's finest, ending in SNL's Bobby Moynihan giving an emotional slide show love letter to the show.

Before that I watched the LOST pilot which is amazing and brought back so many memories and hammered home just how awesome and one of a kind the show has been. Seeing all the characters as they were 6 years ago, reinforced how far indeed they've all come and grown over the years. Can only be chalked up to great writing.

So excited for the finale tomorrow but it's gonna be weird that afterward, summer will come and go but there will be no new season of LOST in the fall. Getting excited about rewatching the show from start to finish sometime soon.

It's going to be epic!

Friday, May 21, 2010

Friday May 21st, 2010

Uwtl yet again. And so begins the LOST weekend. 6 years of mystery, suspense and explosions coming to an end.

Goin to a big LOST themed UCB show Sat night which should be alotta fun.

Sunday evening will be a holiday of sorts with a gathering of friends who I started watching the show with as a fresh faced freshman back in 2004.

I'm missing game 3 of the Western Conference Finals for this!

It's gonna be epic!

Thursday, May 20, 2010

Thursday May 20th, 2010

Uwtl yet again and so tired. Beyond excited for bed. Today was a productive day (by the standards of my recent days). Got a little reading and writing in. Then capped off the day by seeing LCD Soundsystem at Terminal 5. Was a pretty great show though being packed in like sardines can be a little trying. And drunk people can be real assholes.

During the show, apparently some dude a few layers of people from me literally relieved himself in the middle of the show. The details are hazy but I was under the impression that the people in his immediate vicinity got splattered, which could only mean the dude whipped it out and just f'in pee'd.

Now, i'm no expert, but it's my understanding that if you're in a situation in which you have no choice but to pee yourself, you do so in a fashion that allows only you to be the one to get wet.

This really is the most absurd and disgusting thing I could imagine happening at a concert. I hope this was a terrible misinterpretation and the guy merely knocked some people's beers over but sadly I don't think that's the case.

I'm gonna have to formulate a joke out of this, it's too absurd to not do so.

Sunday, May 16, 2010

Sunday May 16th, 2010

Uwtl yet again. This has happened also in recent nights but I think I have neglected to inform you about it. Who is you btw? Who is reading this? Honestly I have no idea. For all I know you could just simply be me.

Spent the weekend in Houston this weekend, attending the graduation of my Little Cuz from the Universtiy of Houston. The graduation was held in the hallowed halls that once held Phi Slamma Jamma (maybe the best fake greek name for a college basketball team ever).

During the ceremony, I missed the calling of my cousin's name as a result of being spaced out, sending an email on me Iphone as the name was called. If this doesn't prove how plugged in I am then I dunno what does. I used to be very very anti-text and any form of obnoxious handheld technology, but now I stare at my little pocket music player/ computer/ phone all the live long day.

There's no one to truly blame but myself for this absurd way of being but I suppose I could also blame NYC for the fact that I am never driving thus being Zombie'd into my smartphone is less dangerous than it would be in LA (btw isn't it ironic that it's called a smart phone yet it has the ability to make it's owner infinitely stupider at least in a being there in the moment/ socialization sense? Ya, I really do think.).

I hope that my likely impending move back to LA will seriously derail my terrible habit of being glued to the phone/comp/ pod.

Tuesday, May 11, 2010

Tuesday, May 11th 2010

Uwtl yet again. Work, Broadway, LOST and such are all to blame.

Feelin a little sick, Time for bed.

Goodnight.

Monday, May 10, 2010

Monday, May 10th 2010

Uwtl yet again. Technically I was also uwtl last evening but I got in bed right at 12:59 so I didn't feel blogging was needed.

The cause of tonight's edition of Jiuwtl, the NBA playoffs.

Living in NY while being a die hard LA sports fan has it's drawbacks, namely the lateness of games. Come playoff time this problem persists most every other night.

After a second half of ups and downs I am now beyond stoked to watch my Lakers silence the Jazz as we speak (or I type, you read if you want to be real accurate about it).

I'd probably be asleep right now if the Lake show didn't let Utah make things interesting in the 3rd quarter. But now, up 20 with less than 2 minutes left, the Lakers shall return to the Western Conference Finals for the 3rd straight year and hopefully the result will be more of the same against "Los Suns," who will certainly be tough.

Think I might be too excited to get right to sleep. Pretty nice end to a pretty nice day.

Go Lakers!!!

Saturday, May 8, 2010

Friday/ Saturday, May 7th/May 8th 2010

Double edition of uwtl as last night around 2 am, I fell asleep in my chair while mentally preparing to blog. What can I say, I've got a comfy chair.

Why was I uwtl last night? Lemme see. Saw Iron Man deuce, good times. Then was out with some friends in the Hat (short for Manhattan, feel free to use it).

Tonight was big. As has become the norm, multiple parties to attend on a saturday night. Squeezed in an early bday party, ran home for a little abbreviated Laker game (Big Win!) and then down the way for another party in the hood in honor of my good friend who's in town from chicago.

Enjoying SNL right now. Mother's day edition. Funny stuff.

Thursday, May 6, 2010

Thursday, May 6th 2010

Uwtl for the 3rd time this week I believe.

I have LOST to blame for this. Was 3 episodes behind, in the next hour or so i'll be caught up.

Looking forward to a hopefully big and fun weekend.

Wow this post is pretty lame and interesting. Ooh I watch TV, ooh I hope I have a fun weekend.

I'm about to brush my teeth and wash my face. Sometime shortly I might go to bed. I'm such an interesting person. I definitely have enough to say to fill two quasi daily blogs. I am the greatest of all time.

I'm not being sarcastic at all.

TGIF peoples.

Wednesday, May 5th 2010

Uwtl on this fine cinco de mayo.

Didn't really celebrate per se but grabbed a drink with the roomie and thus am up much later than i'd like.

I think this is Karma for not posting in the uwte edition. I actually was uwte all things considered but just didn't post, took a little while with the Internets and then hit the gym and the day just kind of ran along without a post.

That's right bloggers. The world will go on if you neglect your daily update.

Lot's to do tomorrow, little ish time. On top of all that will prob climb up the hill.

So tired right now. Until next time...

Monday, May 3, 2010

Monday, May 3rd 2010

So tired right now. Long day of shooting, just got to a little writing and reading before bedtime.
Big day tomorrow.

Sorry for the sheisty and short (but who knows how sweet) post, but I gots to sleep.

Friday, April 30, 2010

Friday April 30th, 2010

Uwtl yet again, but it's friday nightttt and I feel alriiiiight. Taking the F to the C train, where I'll get off in Brooklyn in my neighborhood. I'm writing this blog in the melody of the song "This is How We Do It," a Montel Jordan jam from back in the 1990s. "Designated driver got the keys to my truck". Something, something, something. When I get back will I try to work or wa-atch 30 Rock?

Not exactly su-ure, but I can tell you it'll prob be a show on NBC.

Lakers defeat Thunder. Next up Jazz in Round 2.

Goodnight y'all.

Thursday, April 29, 2010

thursday, april 29th 2010

Booyakasha to being uwtl yet again. TGTIF (thank god tomorrow is friday). Big weekend, lots o celebrations and a ton of sun as well.

Lakers will drown the Thunder friday evening and it's on to the next one.

So down for sleep.

P.S. this is me in formal wear tuesday night. The pink tie is because it was a breast cancer foundation event. And Elton John performed too, making pink more than appropriate. Will I ever again wear a pink tie? Who knows? Other colors first probs.

Tuesday, April 27, 2010

Gonna make this short and sweet. I should be long asleep by now but Twitter is like caffeine except more addictive for me.

The Lakers had game 5 wrapped up at the half. Thus I should have gone to sleep. But my 7th grade teacher facebook messaged me a link to a sleazy video of Kim Kardashian and some other chick that consisted of still photos of them in montage form, set to rap music. My middle school teachers were the best haha.

Anywho, great success tonight. Saw Elton John perform at a hoitie toitie NYC benefit dinner. Lakers won. AMAZING. Time to get er done on Friday.

Blog blog blog. Friggin LA playoff games, keeping me uwtl and such. Just fastforwarded through the entire Kings Canucks game 4, very exciting flash of a game but did not end well at all.

My beloved Kings now find themselves tied 2-2 in the best of 7 series, heading back to Vancouver with home ice out the window. At least the Lakers are playing at the top of their game-

Oh, wait. They've barely beaten the wet behind the ears OKC Thunder in two home playoff games. Two more games from now the Lakers could also be sitting in a 2-2 series tie.

For productivity's sake, early playoff exits by my teams would be a positive. But for overall cheeriness and well being sake, I hope they continue to keep me uwtl.

Tuesday, April 20th 2010

This edition of jiuwtl, brought to you by the time difference on the east coast and the LA Lakers continuing mission to give all of their fans cause for concerns.

OKC is good, i'll give them that. But come on Kobe and Co. you're supposed to be the best. Up 3 with under 4 minutes to play in game 2 of the first round is just not acceptable. Here's hoping that road cooking is just what we need to look like a dominant team again.

That is all I have to share for tonight. If I fall asleep before the game is through, maybe it's for the best. A 6:30 AM wakeup tomorrow will be even more tough if I do indeed go to sleep coming off a loss.

Look to jeremyisupwaytooearly.tumblr.com for reaction to the final score.

Sunday April 18th, 2010

Uwte on a sunday, not too typical. Haven't posted in this for awhile despite having been uwtl quite a few times this week either in the staying up or waking up department.

Tonight's culprit is a movie shoot i'm helping out this weekend and next. It's a friend of a friend's film (my buddy is producing it and i've hung with the director a couple times.

While driving home from the first day of shooting last night, it came to my attention that this 25 minute opus of a short was based on a couple episodes of the original Beverly Hills 90210. The main characters are Brenda, Stuart, Dylan and Brandon. Considering when I read the script I had no idea of the connection, I can assure you the project is a slight dose of random, absurd, mayhem.

That being said there's good people working on it and it's nice to actually be involved in making a movie once in awhile rather than just thinking and talking about making movies. Kind of makes me want to get one of my own things off the ground soon, cause for me if you're gonna give up a few days of your life and become sleep deprived, it may as well be your own project.

Going to sleep definitely too late considering i'm more or less starting an internship tomorrow. Thus for the first time in months I actually have somewhere to be in the morning. Both excited and nervous about it as I hope i'll quickly adjust to a bit more on my plate, and not let my own projects fall by the wayside. The gig is only 9-1 mon-thurs to start so it shouldn't be too bad, hopefully it will get me firing on all cylinders and prepare me for the next big bad industry job.

Anywho, feeling pretty good all around. All is well and looking forward to a good week after last week's hectic but great one.

Mon, April 5th 2010

Writing this post on the subway, heading back from a comedy show in the city. In all likelihood, Monday night will probably consistently result in a post. Not the ideal way to start the weekly crusade for a good night's sleep, but I'm a sucker for free jokes.

Saw Tim Burton's BATMAN on the big screen today, Good 80's fun. I was kinda taken aback by how many similar scenes were in THE DARK KNIGHT, the most recent depiction of Gotham city, descended into chaos at the hands of The Joker. The movies are very different of course both visually and tonally. One huge and very cool difference is the casting of Billy Dee Williams ( aka Lando Calrissian) as Gotham DA Harvey Dent. Also the songs in the film were provided by the always great Prince, one of the crazier musical choices for any summer blockbuster. But hey, it was the 80s and Prince was anything but crazy at the time, as a matter of fact if you thought Prince was crazy then you were probably crazy. PURPLE RAIN people, PURPLE RAIN.

Sat April 3rd, 2010

2 AM. Not too epic for a weekend night, but alas anytime i'm up past 1 AM I must post.

Good day today. Nothing too crazy. Fairly productive for a Saturday.

Thought some thoughts, ate some food, told some jokes, watched some tube.

Struggling a bit with the Passover thing. I actually don't mind matzoh but it's hard to keep things kosher. I find it a little ironic that I make a big attempt to be kosher for passover when I don't give a rat's ass about being kosher the rest of the year. For a moment, I thought about getting some delicious Pizza tomorrow but realized that ain't an option.

Once tuesday comes around I am going to have quite the feast of fluffy, doughy, goodness. There will be pizza and sandwiches and pancakes and cookies.

Guess that could just be called back to normal. Either way, I will cherish it.

Fri April 2nd, 2010

2:26 AM in the morning. Not exactly uwtl for a friday night but it is past 1 AM therefore I must type.

Forgot to mention in the morning edition but crazily enough this night has marked 6 months to the day when I was informed I was being "replaced" at my most recent steady job. It literally feels like a few weeks though i'm pretty sure i've done a thing or two in the past half year. Hopefully 6 months from now i won't be up blogging about the one year anniversary and will have landed a gig of some significance by then. On that night I returned home much later than this hour, after a night of free Vodka and Stella Artois thanks to the New York Film Festival. My first perk of my thankless job on the last night of said job. Despite the impending unemployment of that evening, the night was pretty epic with the aforementioned drinking activities proceeded by a screening of Lars Von Trier's ANTICHRIST, which probably gave the most literal and gruesome depiction of the term "Love Hurts." I don't know a better night for an open bar than that in which you lost your first ever real job.

In other news, I've survived day 5 of passover, though I am sweating matzoh as we speak. Just had a late night snack of Egg matzoh with cream cheese and avocado. That snack choice kinda makes me sound like a pregnant lady but I assure you that it is a delicious combo, and I am not with child. No, that only happens in mediocre Arnold Schwarzeneger comedies (not the matzoh, cream cheese and avocado but the male pregnancy)

Jeremy Is Up Way Too Late

Right now, as I have been many nights of late, I am up way too late.

Being uwtl when you plan to get uwte is a problem.

Hopefully I will not post on this blog every night, as a result of getting my shit together and actually going to bed at a decent hour.

Anytime I am up past 1 o'clock AM, I will write about it. Which seems counterproductive considering i'm already up way too late but whatever I don't care.

jeremyisupwaytooearly.tumblr.com now has a formidable foe.
