I've gotta admit, despite being quite tired earlier in the evening, I find myself a bit wired now. Maybe it was the fruit smoothie I made myself at 12:30 in the morning, but more likely it was the joy that was the season finale of BREAKING BAD.
SPOILER ALERT: I received a major spoiler alert today, before seeing the damn thing. In this internet age where any idiot with a keyboard and connectivity can say whatever the frick they want without considering how it may affect otherwise, one of these simpletons who I happen to be friends with on Facebook (maybe you know who you are?) dropped a real big plot point for all the internet to see.
I'm not going to mention this plot thread, but luckily it was something that was very much in play, and thank god I stopped reading before the gory details (and boy, were they gory) were able to rear their ugly head (or face).
After the events of tonight's season finale, one thing is clear. This show is ending at the perfect time. Things have spiraled so out of control in the lives of these characters, and morality has worn so thin with our ever increasing anti-hero, that there's just no way the show could go on for more than one more supersized season. The great thing about this show, is how it's tested the limits of audience expectation to a level that may very well have never been seen in television. Time and time again, the last possible place you'd think they'd go is exactly where we find ourselves.
I can't wait til whenever it is we get more BREAKING BAD, yet in some ways I really really really can. Because the longer it takes to come to fruition, or at least the longer it feels like it's taking to come to fruition, the longer the show will exist as a living breathing thing. When that's done, there'll be no more of the misadventures of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman to tune into each week for a mere quarter of the year every year. After that, the show will live on in the hearts and minds of those who loved it, and in the eyes of those who will have the privilege of seeing it for the very first time.
Off to bed now, with guaranteed Meth and Murder filled dreams (for those uninitiated, that's not where my mind goes people, that's the bulk of the show).
I leave you with a roaring message from New Mexico's greatest lil' lawyer.
