UWTL but hey, for me it's kinda friday night. Playing with Muppets all day friday through tuesday, thus wednesday thursday becomes the weekend.
Now for some Conan and sleep. First ep I get to watch seeing as how DirecTV pulls the old shifty shaft by putting up the east coast TBS feed. Last night ended with me going to bed excited to pass out to some Conando after wearing my Late Night shirt all day, only to be dissapointed when there were indeed only 5 minutes remaining of said redhead and a whole lotta George Lopez starting up.
I DVR'd the thing this time. Let us hope there will be no stopping me this time.

October 30th, 2010

UWTL yet again on a Saturday night. First of all it is Saturday, secondly it is Halloweekend so it was bound to happen.
Don't know about you, but I found myself waiting til the umpteenth hour, literally, to get a costume together. I'd thought about it for weeks but just never put any time in. By the time I started making moves to get a few simple items to assemble a rockin costume, either it was too late, things weren't in stock or they were sold out. I ended up goin as a broke ass Pau Gasol, wearing my faded jersey shirt which I wear quite often on non costume days, as well as my buddy's replica Laker shorts. Sports Authority had seemingly every player except Pau, jersey wise, thus my accuracy wasn't quite up to snuff.

Also I think I found my costume for next year. I almost went for a much more awesome and fairly simple nostalgia pick, that of Sloth from THE GOONIES. Very easy costume consisting of jeans, a blue superman shirt, red suspenders, nikes and a bandana and pirate hat. There was certainly not enough time for prosthetic work in the facial deformities department but even with that, Superman shirts were sold out at every Hot Topic and Comic Book store in town (don't worry, I didn't spend my day running around to all of them, I just called a few). Next year if you happen to see me on Halloween, you can expect a lot of "Hey you guys!!!" that's for sure.
Disclaimer: this is a picture of the Sloth action figure, pre shirt rip to reveal Superman shirt beneath. I know my Goonies.

My UWTL thoughts are that although I can't say it's been keeping me up cause I have yet to try and go to sleep but PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2 was pretty pretty pretty good. Definitely recommend checking it out, prob better than the first. That is all.

UWTL on a sunday night that consisted of lots of script reading, and no TV. Not ideal.
Got a job that starts in a few weeks. Meet some of my future Co-workers (but then again, i'd like to think you already have). Pretty excited about it.

Oh man, uwtl just barely and wanted to share with you by far the video of the day on the interwebs. But alas, the "big wigs" at FOX have removed it. BEST OPENING EVER!
It was THE SIMPSONS opening sequence from Sunday night's show as conceived and directed by street artist Banksy of EXIT THROUGH THE GIFT SHOP fame. Here's the LINK in case it ever pops back up. In the meantime here's a taste of EXIT which I never got around to seeing but will very soon especially after this brilliant and ballsy Simpsons tangent.

Yom Kippur is gone and past. I fasted and save for a little water after dinner last night did the whole real deal (save for the 22-23 hours part).
Didn't quite make it back to Temple today, but that's alright as I put in my time last night. What I did do is see a movie, which is becoming a bit of a Yom Kippur tradition. Although my grandmother doesn't approve, I'll prob still keep doing it. After all, sometimes I think I believe in Cinema more than I do God. For the former the proof is in the pudding, whereas with the latter, well, it's based more on a leap of faith.
The movie I saw today was pretty phenomenal: NEVER LET ME GO. Not exactly a crowdpleaser but beautiful film nonetheless. Can't imagine a more appropriate movie on Yom Kippur than one that touches on death, dying and mortality and paints a picture of just how important the people we love are on our brief time on earth. Despite the depressing subject matter, the fact that these particular characters have even less time than we tend to get, helps put things in perspective and makes it a bit easier to stomach. If you're interested in seeing a well acted, beautifully shot and altogether worthwhile flick, I highly recommend you check it out.

Hello night owls,
crazy to think this is the first edition of UWTL in almost 2 months. Yes I have probably been uwtl a handful of times since our last rendezvous but alas I have been lazy.
Tonight, being Yom Kippur, I am going on 5+ hours without food, only 17-18 hours to go (yes I know that doesn't quite add up to 24, but I'm super super reform or as most other people call it Agnostic, so deal with it conservs!).
Anywho so tomorrow, there will be no food til supper, that is what's up. I'm hoping to be super lucid and able to focus and get some shiz done, but alas that may not be in the cards. If the afternoon arrives and more Temple seems as appealing as it does right now (which is not very), then maybe i'll go check out THE TOWN (Affleck yo!). Lot's o great movies starting to pop into theaters, gotta try and keep up. Saw EASY A tonight, the teen comedy starring the babe-aliscious Emma Stone. Went with the sis and the little cuz. A good time was had by all. Not quite MEAN GIRLS level girly teeny bopper brilliance, but alas not all such highschool comedies have the benefit of Tina Fey in front of and behind the camera.
That's it for tonight. If this post was just a return to meandering, aimless form, then get stoked cause I got a few more blogs launching soon. Both are significantly more focused. One is a photo blog with a slightly sick sense of humor (sorry ladies!) while the other will be an in depth look at where all great and awful TV begins, the Pilot phase. Hopefully both will be something slightly more than massive wastes of times. Who knows? Only times will tell.
