Monday October 10th, 2011

Damn was tryin to not be UWTL tonight.  Ya see, I've been UWTLing like a champ these last few weeks in NY, which has screwed with my sleep cycle like whoa.  I've got a red eye to catch in a few nights, thus it would behoove me to get the F to bed a little earlier so that I can start shifting my sleep cycle in the direction of being able to pass out on the plane.

I've gotta admit, despite being quite tired earlier in the evening, I find myself a bit wired now.  Maybe it was the fruit smoothie I made myself at 12:30 in the morning, but more likely it was the joy that was the season finale of BREAKING BAD.

SPOILER ALERT: I received a major spoiler alert today, before seeing the damn thing.  In this internet age where any idiot with a keyboard and connectivity can say whatever the frick they want without considering how it may affect otherwise, one of these simpletons who I happen to be friends with on Facebook (maybe you know who you are?) dropped a real big plot point for all the internet to see.

I'm not going to mention this plot thread, but luckily it was something that was very much in play, and thank god I stopped reading before the gory details (and boy, were they gory) were able to rear their ugly head (or face).

After the events of tonight's season finale, one thing is clear.  This show is ending at the perfect time.  Things have spiraled so out of control in the lives of these characters, and morality has worn so thin with our ever increasing anti-hero, that there's just no way the show could go on for more than one more supersized season.  The great thing about this show, is how it's tested the limits of audience expectation to a level that may very well have never been seen in television.  Time and time again, the last possible place you'd think they'd go is exactly where we find ourselves.

I can't wait til whenever it is we get more BREAKING BAD, yet in some ways I really really really can.  Because the longer it takes to come to fruition, or at least the longer it feels like it's taking to come to fruition, the longer the show will exist as a living breathing thing.  When that's done, there'll be no more of the misadventures of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman to tune into each week for a mere quarter of the year every year.  After that, the show will live on in the hearts and minds of those who loved it, and in the eyes of those who will have the privilege of seeing it for the very first time.

Off to bed now, with guaranteed Meth and Murder filled dreams (for those uninitiated, that's not where my mind goes people, that's the bulk of the show).

I leave you with a roaring message from New Mexico's greatest lil' lawyer.

UWTL thinking about what else, Steve Jobs.  What an extraordinary man and an extraordinary yet too short of a life.  My day was fine, I got a thing or two done, but this man passing trumps any mundane details that I could sit here and share with you.

The above video includes a message that I certainly have not been great at following, though I certainly try.  If anything, the untimely passing of one of the most well off and influential men of our lifetime, proves that no matter what you accomplish, or how well you lead your life, there are no guarantees.  It's something we could all serve to think about and try and put into practice more.

R.I.P. Steve Jobs.  It will be some time before we see another like you, that is if we ever do.

Tuesday October 4th, 2011

Oh man i'm UWTL and sick and tired.  Not of something, i'm talking literally.  It's 2AM, i'm exhausted and a little sick.

Managed a busy and full day today despite this, thus the exhaustion and continued meh feeling.  Got a little tour of CNN, caught a more than solid flick in TAKE SHELTER, ate some stuff, read some stuff, wrote some stuff and ready to do it (or something like it) all over again tomorrow.

For now, I sleep.  If you aren't, you should too.

Monday October 3rd, 2011

Another insanely late night in NYC, especially for a monday.  But this edition of UWTL comes after a productive spell so what can you do?  Well you could be more productive when it's light out, but I'm working on it.

Jammed a lot in to another abbreviated day, but a small portion of the below video was a nice highlight.

Arrested Development apparently is going to be back with a vengeance in the next couple years.  I certainly will be first in line for that.  Enjoy the proof/ video of Sunday's big reunion.
